NEW ZEALAND

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is the most popular English proficiency test all over the world. New Zealand also accepts the IELTS score as a proof of English language proficiency. Universities at UG level may ask for an original or photocopied scorecard.

  • Cambridge Assessment English: C1 – minimum grade requirement: B, C2 - minimum grade requirement: C
  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment: overall score of 70 required. No part should have a score of less than 60.
  • IELTS: overall band score of 6.5 with no band score less than 6.0
  • Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST): overall score should be 4.5 or above. Score in no part should be below 4.0.
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Minimum requirement in internet based test is 100 + 22 on Writing. Paper test in TOEFL has been discontinued since July of 2017.

Other tests accepted by Canadian universities include: Certificate of Proficiency in English (COPE), English Language Diagnosis and Assessment (ELDA), and International Baccalaureate English.
